Boxycharm August 2020 Review
WARNING – SPOILERS!

I have been receiving Boxycharm for the last 3 months now. When I lived in the UK I was desperate to get hold of it, but it was unavailable unless you lived in the USA. This months theme was ‘goglamping’ and I have to say, I loved this months box so much. I have my preferences set to receive a 50/50 balance of skincare and make-up because that’s what I love, but you can do a quiz so they know what to send you.

Here is an overview of this months box. Some products are well known brands to me, such as Glamglow, Cargo and MAC Cosmetics. The brands Mudmasky and Rockins i’m not so familiar with, but this is why I love services like this. It helps with my addiction to beauty products and I also get to try out new brands and products that I may not have even thought about trying. Boxycharm is $25 per month. On average the products are worth anywhere up to $200 each month! They also have different types of boxes. $25 gets you the ‘Base Box’, they also offer a premium box and ‘BoxyLuxe’. They also offer you HUGE discounts from the boxycharm store, you can earn charms by reviewing your box that you can use to spend in the store.

Here is what I received for August 2020
DISCLAIMER! These are the products I received but you may not receive the same ones. Everyone gets a different variation. Boxycharm post the whole selection of what you could receive in your own box.

Glamglow Moisturetripβ’ Omega-rich face moisturizer
This – is – amazing! I always get so excited when I get glamglow (this is not the first time). This brand offers amazing skincare and beauty products. It is considered in my opinion, a high end brand. Retailing at $54.00 on Glamglow.com for 50ml of product, this moisturizer is definitely worth your money. It claims to have and ‘anti-redness’ effect using sativa seed oil to help calm irritated skin. I have been using this for the last 3 days and I love it. Makes my skin feels soft and less dry (I have normal/combination skin). The packaging is gorgeous and unique, I just love it. I am going to give this a 10/10 because it ticks all of the boxes for me and my skin type.

MAC Cosmetics amplified creme lipstick – Shade Dubonet
Okay, so I currently own 14 MAC lipsticks in a verity of shades. My first MAC lipstick was Velvet Teddy about 6 years ago. I do not own this shade I received which has worked out well. It’s a beautiful deep red – perfect for Fall/Autumn! It’s an amplified creme finish, which means it has a lovely creamy, high shine formula. I don’t have too much to say about this lipstick, MAC lipstick formula is famed for a reason and I 10/10 recommend you pick one up. These retail for $19.00 on MACs website.

Mudmasky Blue Light Protection Mask
I distinctly remember opening this months boxycharm, seeing this product and thinking… this is probably a gimmick. This product is essentially a moisturizer that claims to protect your skin from harmful blue light from your phone, laptop or TV. It is targeted at people who work with computers, which makes sense. I have been doing some research because I am sceptical. It seems that blue light is pretty damaging on the eyes. Most research I did, contradicted this product in saying that blue and red light is effective in the treatment on acne and eczema. All in all I am not going to be able to tell you if this works, I tried it the other night while I was working on my computer and I think it broke me out! It is a nice moisturizer though, it smells like wood polish which I actually like. I give this product a 4/10, I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it but i’m glad I got it free as this retails for $58.31 for 60ml on the Mudmasky Website which is pretty silly. I don’t really recommend this product.

Rockins Cosmetics Big Fat Liner Eyeliner Felt Pen
I can safely say that I have never heard of this brand. The packaging is cool and the felt tip itself is pretty chunky. I tried this out, I don’t really wear eyeliner much anymore. When I was a teenager winged eyeliner was my identity, so I feel like I know a thing or two. This particular one was, okay. It really is nothing special. Do not get this if you are a beginner at wearing eyeliner, the tip is super thick and hard to work with. It’s pretty black but not very waterproof. I wore this walking around in 80% humidity and some of it melted into my crease. This will set you back $25.00 on the Rockins Website, I think this is a UK brand as it comes up in GPB and not USD. So it may also be a bit pricey shipping it over from there. I would give this 7/10. It’s nothing special but it does do a good job at being an eyeliner.

Cargo Nude Beach Eyeshadow Palette
Lastly in my box was this neutral eyeshadow palette. You get 9 shades, 2 shimmers and 7 mattes. This is a really pretty palette, perfect for travel to create everyday, natural eye looks. This palette is pretty nice. I own a lot of eyeshadow palettes and I know this one will be coming with me on my trips away. The only con to this palette is that the shadows are loosely pressed. This means more pigment but also more fallout when you dip your brush in. The shadows are soft and have decent pigment. The two shimmer shades are stunning, such a beautiful formula. I tried to have a look to see where you can purchase it from but you can only buy it off people who got it from boxycharm. The palette has boxycharm written on the front which makes me feel like it’s an exclusive. The card that came with my boxycharm states that it is $39.99 retail price but I can’t find anywhere to buy it. I give this a 9/10 because it is a really good neutral eyeshadow palette that would can create a lot of different looks with and it is very travel friendly.

I decided to create a look using all the products I got and this was the result! I ended up taking off the lipstick as it’s definitely a Fall/Autumn shade for me. This box ended up with a total value of $191.99, considering I paid $25.00 I think that’s a really good deal.
