Boxycharm October 2020 Review
Warning – SPOILERS!
Boxycharm for the month of October had the theme ‘Candy Shop’. This is the first one I have had in October and for some reason I thought it would be Halloween themed. There was pretty much nothing candy related to this box. I have no idea what the themes mean but I would guess the products inside should correspond with the theme. I decided to photograph the products with an Autumn theme. So as usual, this is Boxycharm Base Box for $25. They offer a premium box and ‘BoxyLuxe’ as well as HUGE discounts from the Boxycharm store, you can earn charms by reviewing your box that you can use to spend in the store.

Here is what I received for October 2020
DISCLAIMER! These are the products I received but you may not receive the same ones. Everyone gets a different variation. Boxycharm post the whole selection of what you could receive in your own box.
Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
This was one of the choice items for this box, so I actually chose this to be in my box. I have used this brand before and I really like it. My box was a little late this month and I like to try things out before I write my post. I used this 3 times this week leading up to this post and I really like it. It makes my skin feel really clean and smooth. I will continue to use it until it runs out. There isn’t a lot more to say about it, it works and I definitely recommend it. This product goes for $40 on the Murad website. I would not normally pay this much for a cleanser so I will not be repurchasing, I have my usual cleansers which work just as good. It does the job and is pleasant to use.

Pretty Vulgar – Nesting B!#%h Face, Face Palette
This is the only real make-up product I received this month, which is okay. I normally have my preferences split 50/50 but I don’t mind when it is one more than the other. This palette is really nice. I have had things from this brand before and really enjoyed them. You get two bronzer/contour shades, two blushes and one highlight, I have tried this twice and I have a few things to say. The contour shades are the most powdery products I’ve ever used in my life, yes, worse than that ABH palette. All this means is the shades are loosely pressed, this generally results in a more pigmented shade. This is the case here, the shades perform great but there is so much fallout in the pan. Not really a bad thing but it does waste product as you have to blow it away. The rest of the shades are fine. You can buy this on the Pretty Vulgar website for $32, I think this is a reasonable price to be honest. This is a great little palette, prefect for travel.

Grown Alchemist Matte Balancing Moisturiser
So, I’ve been using this since I received it in my box and I was a little skeptical. I have never heard of this brand in my life, the packaging is simple and clean (which I really like). This moisturizer is amazing! Which is super annoying because I’m going to have to repurchase it off the website for $69! I do think it’s worth the price. I can tell it has amazing, high quality ingredients. It’s matte but it makes your skin feel smooth, soft and hydrated. The tube kind of reminded me of medicated cream which somehow makes it feel luxurious. It smells lovely and a little goes a long way. If you have oily skin, I think you will enjoy this product, but I do believe it’s for all skin types.

Hipdot Color Change Blue Sponge Duo
This is the first time I have ever received anything from this brand so far but I know they are featured in Boxycharm a lot. These sponges are amazing, they’re really soft and apply make-up evenly. I’ve actually been wanting a little sponge for a while to apply concealer and under eye powder. They both work really well. They do change color if you apply hot or cold to them, pretty useless. They are mostly blue and change to a white, but this only lasts when you clean them or add water then it’s gone. These will set you back $18 on the Hipdot website. I think this is reasonable for two sponges. The only issue I have is that it doesn’t clean very well and stays stained. If you are in the market for a new sponge I would get these, I will be repurchasing them myself.

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Tinted Cupuaçu Lip Butter – Shade: Keep it Rio
The only thing I’ve ever used from this brand is the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which is amazing. I do love a lip butter and this one feels really nice. The shade is a nude color but it’s so faint it may as well just be clear. I want to talk about the scent/flavor. It’s described as Dulce de Leche but it honestly tastes like popcorn, I just so happen to hate the smell of popcorn and when I first put this on it almost made me gag. I’ve been using it more and more and I am now fully used to it. If you are sensitive to smells, this one is very strong weather you like the smell or not so be warned. On the Sol de Janeiro website this is $20… for a lip butter. It’s a great product but I’d never pay that much for it again, especially as the flavor/scent makes me feel sick. If you enjoy them smell then you may feel different.

There weren’t too many make-up products in this months box but I did do a look using everything, the face palette from Pretty Vulgar worked really nicely but it is very pigmented so be careful. I used the Lip Butter before I applied my lipstick. This box is worth $179.00 this month, not bad for the $25 price point. I liked every single thing in this box and use most things daily.
